Reutlingen Training Notes

Running: Locals run the city centre along the Echaz, then drift into Volkspark und Pomologie, Stadtgarten, Parkanlage am Listplatz, and Markwasen for easy Z2. Kepis Lehrpfad gives you a simple local option when you want dirt underfoot without making a big day of it. Sportverein TSG Reutlingen, TSV Betzingen, PSV Reutlingen, and SSV Reutlingen 05 keep the club scene visible. Reutlinger Altstadtlauf is the city anchor event, and Waldlauf Reutlingen-Ohmenhausen gives Ohmenhausen its own proper race feel. The Lichtenstein Trail sits 7 km away and packs 900m of gain into 22 km through the Swabian Jura.

Cycling: Locals ride out because the district gives them over 900 km of cycle paths and the city sits right by the Alb. Vordere Alb-Radweg (R14) makes a 52 km day with constant ascent and descent, so it works for base miles with teeth. Ermstal (R15) runs 27 km through the Upper Ermstal valley, and Around St. Johann (R13) stays friendlier with few inclines. V. Around St. Johann (R13) covers 7 km when you want climbs.

Season: July feels like race season because Reutlinger Altstadtlauf and the 12. Reutlinger Swim & Run land on July 4th, and Metzinger Ermstal-Marathon follows on the second Sunday in July. May and June still matter because Erima Lauf and Hugo Boss Lauf sit in the brief as early-summer tune-ups. Locals use summer for intervals, longer rides on R14 and R15, and trail days toward Lichtenstein. Winter changes the rhythm, because Alb-Gold Winterlauf-Cup brings February racing in Reutlingen and Pliezhausen, Nikolauslauf Tübingen lands on December 6th, and Monte Kiki in Markwasen turns into the sledding hill.
