Puchar Polski

Puchar Polski is Poland's national football cup, organized each season by the Polish Football Association for club teams nationwide. It includes professional clubs and amateur teams in the same competition, leading to the common Polish nickname “cup of a thousand teams.” The winner receives a place in Europa League qualifying and competes in the Polish Super Cup. The format originated from a plan where regional winners advanced to a central stage, with single-match ties in each round. This concept was proposed early in organized Polish football, initially rejected, then formally established a few years later. Wisła Kraków won the inaugural edition, and Legia Warszawa holds the record with 21 cup victories. The final is now held annually in May at the National Stadium in Warsaw, providing a definitive national conclusion after months of clubs from diverse levels competing to advance.

Tour de Pologne Women

The Tour de Pologne Women is a women's road cycling stage race held in Poland each July. It is a short elite event, not a week-long grand tour. The current format is a three-day race with UCI ProSeries status, attracting international teams and top female riders to Polish roads. The Lublin Voivodeship will host the route and stage starts, placing the race in eastern Poland instead of the mountain roads used by the first edition. The first Tour de Pologne Women was a compact but challenging race: three stages covering 182 km, featuring two mountain stages and a 4 km individual time trial. The race began and ended near Zakopane and Bukowina Tatrzańska, with Bukovina Resort serving as a finish and stage hub. That initial route was initially planned for the coast before being moved to the mountains. This change occurred after the calendar was adjusted to avoid the Giro Rosa and to separate the women's start from the men's Tour de Pologne finish. Jolanda Neff secured the overall victory, the sprint classification, and the most active rider classification, while Tetiana Riabczenko won the mountains classification and the Swiss national team claimed the team ranking.

lotto triathlon energy lublin

LOTTO Triathlon Energy Lublin is a triathlon event in Lublin, Poland, held in late May as part of the Triathlon Energy series. It is built around two accessible race options: a 1/4 Ironman with 0.95 km of swimming, 45 km of cycling, and 10.55 km of running, and a 1/8 Ironman with 0.475 km of swimming, 22.5 km of cycling, and 5.25 km of running. Both distances also offer relay entries, so teams can split the swim, bike, and run instead of one person doing the full race. The race is based by Zalew Zemborzycki, a reservoir on the edge of Lublin, with the course running around that area. The transition zones are planned for the parking lot by the reservoir, while the finish line and fan areas are at Słoneczne Wrotkowo. The shorter 1/8 Ironman distance makes the event a realistic first triathlon, while the 1/4 Ironman gives more experienced age-group racers a longer day without stepping up to a half-distance race.

About cycling & running in Lublin

Lublin Training Notes

Running: Locals run the Bystrzyca line, People's Park, Czechów, and the city centre when they want simple daily miles. Zemborzyce Lake gives runners an easy anchor for Z2 laps and longer weekend work. Lublin Upland keeps the west honest, because the loess gorges add bite without needing mountains. The route covers 70 km and gains 290 m, so it feels like a real marathon check. The second route covers 58 km and gains 303 m. AZS UMCS Lublin, Lublinianka, and Motor Lublin sit in the local club mix. Polmaraton Lubelski, Maraton Lubelski, 10 Tysięcy Kroków, and Czechowska Piatka are the names locals know.

Cycling: Locals ride south to Zalew Zemborzycki for steady base miles, then look west when they want climbs. The west side gives the best relief, because the loess gorges make short intervals feel sharp. One route runs 8 km and gains 228 m, which is enough for a proper Saturday spin. Another route runs 3 km and gains 275 m. Another route runs 9 km and gains 126 m inside Lublin. KM Cross Lublin and LSKT are the club names that fit the bike talk. Tour De Pologne Women, Lubelski Maraton Turystyczny, and Lubelski Duathlon are the anchor events.

Season: June and July bring the best training rhythm, and most people get on their bikes here in those months. Summers stay warm, so locals move intervals earlier and keep Z2 by the Bystrzyca or Zalew Zemborzycki when the day opens up. The city centre still works for short runs, and the lake still works when you want predictable laps. Winter changes the mood fast, because Lublin winters are cold and damp. Runners keep using the flatter east and south when footing matters. Riders save the sharper west for better days, and cyclocross legs start to make more sense than gran fondo pacing.
