McLeod Health & Fitness Center Kids Splash and Dash

The McLeod Health & Fitness Center Kids Splash and Dash is a youth swim-run event in Florence, South Carolina, serving as the state's only USAT Splash and Dash. Designed for ages 5 to 17, it features a 150-yard pool swim followed by a 2K (1.2-mile) run. This format offers children a brief, straightforward introduction to multisport racing, omitting the cycling leg of a triathlon. Participants begin individually, entering the pool every 20 seconds, with the oldest age group starting first to allow younger children to observe the race procedure. Swimmers proceed across the pool lanes, exiting via the left-side stairs. They then move to the outdoor transition area, put on shoes, and complete two laps around the McLeod Health and Fitness Center before reaching the finish. Parents or guardians can accompany younger participants on the run. All finishers receive custom medals, and awards are presented to the top male and female finishers in each age division.
