Marathon d'Albi

The Marathon d'Albi guides runners past Sainte-Cécile Cathedral and the Grand Theatre in Albi, a UNESCO World Heritage episcopal city in southern France. This urban road race takes place annually in April, offering 10 km, half-marathon, and marathon distances suitable for both amateur and professional athletes. Established in 1979, the event maintains a modest scale, avoiding large crowds, and provides a welcoming atmosphere with pacers for those aiming for specific finish times. The course weaves through Albi's historic and modern districts, following the Tarn River. The half-marathon route extends towards Saint-Juéry, featuring out-and-back segments along the river. The marathon course utilizes the riverbanks, includes passage through tunnels, and features minimal elevation gain of approximately 38 meters. The 10 km race consists of two undulating loops entirely within the city. Albi's history includes hosting the French Marathon Championships twice, underscoring the event's racing pedigree while retaining its local Occitan character.

Urban Triathlon d'Albi

The Urban Triathlon d'Albi is the Albi event in France's Triathlon Series, the FFTRI-run circuit that functions as the French championship for elite and second-division triathlon clubs. It begins the five-race season in early June and follows the sprint format: a 750 m swim, 20 km bike, and 5 km run. The series emphasizes club racing, with men's and women's teams competing based on each club's roster. The Albi race takes place on an urban circuit within the city's historic center, distinguishing it from a remote countryside triathlon or a long-distance event. It is one leg of a national club competition that also includes stops in Vichy, Quiberon, La Baule, and Cabourg, concluding in late September. Each division features 16 teams, and clubs like Triathlon Club Lievin and Poissy Triathlon enter with championship-winning histories.

Les 24 Heures du Circuit d'Albi

Les 24 Heures du Circuit d'Albi is a 24-hour road ultramarathon held annually in Albi, southern France, since 2013. Initially a June event, it later shifted to October. Amateur and professional runners compete simultaneously, with the winner determined by the greatest distance covered within the 24-hour period. The Association Albi24h organizes the event, directed by Didier Thiriot. Participants race on a short road circuit, not between towns. The course was extended to 1,500 meters and widened in sections to accommodate international championships. Albi has previously hosted IAU European and World 24-hour championships, along with French championships, attracting national-team ultrarunners and open entrants. The event's record book includes notable performances: Aleksandr Sorokin achieved 278.972 km, Camille Herron set a world record of 270.116 km, and Erik Clavery established a French 24-hour record of 272.217 km. A 100 km race was subsequently introduced, commencing alongside the 24-hour event.

Season: Albi gives runners and riders a long usable season because winters stay milder than most places with the same climate label. Summer gets hot, so most people start early, keep efforts easy, and look for shade when they can. Substantial summer rainfall keeps the place from feeling Mediterranean on paper, so locals stay flexible with intervals and long rides. The Monts de Lacaune change the day when the city feels warm, with elevation gain, coolness, forests, tracks, and high-altitude roads. Sidobre gives trail runners granite chaos and forest terrain near Lacrouzette. 5 kilometers.
