The Rotary Tour du Bouchon is a road race held in Troyes, located in the Aube department of France’s Grand Est region. All races commence from Place Alexandre Israël, situated in front of the town hall. The event takes place in early autumn and is organized by Rotary Troyes Val de Seine, with assistance from the local FFA off-stadium running committee and the city sports service. The schedule includes an 800 m children's run (ages 6-11) and a 3 km run (ages 12+), both free of charge. A 7 km race, for ages 16+, is also offered with official rankings and a modest entry fee. The 7 km race is the primary competitive event, completing one circuit of the city. The 3 km run is intended for a more leisurely, unranked participation. Youngest participants are also unranked, and each child receives a diploma. Recent years have seen over 1,500 participants of all ages, establishing it as a significant local event rather than an exclusive club gathering. The Rotary club also dedicates the event to supporting local associations and causes, having previously aided Les Restos du Cœur and handisport initiatives, including providing equipment for individuals with reduced mobility.
The Duathlon de Troyes is a city duathlon held in Troyes, Aube, in France's Grand Est region. It typically takes place in late March or early April, employing the standard run-bike-run structure on paved roads for both running and cycling segments. The event features multiple distances, including XS, S, TOP, and a popular option, catering to various athletic abilities. The TOP format also serves as the French Adult Duathlon Championship, comprising a 5 km run, a 20 km bike ride, and a 2.5 km run. The XS version is shorter, with 2.5 km of running, a 10 km bike leg, and a final 1.25 km run. The race is situated in the historic center of Troyes, known for its medieval half-timbered architecture, the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul, and the Musée d'Art Moderne, enhancing the overall weekend experience. A French youth duathlon championship is also part of the event, bringing younger athletes to compete alongside adults. The event is locally known as “Cheval de Troyes,” a nickname referencing the city's name. Post-race, participants can explore Troyes' old town, with the Champagne vineyards and the Parc Naturel de la Forêt d’Orient accessible within an hour's drive.
Running: Troyes has a flat and rolling course through the old centre, with the Seine river nearby and the champagne-cork layout of the city. Locals use the medieval streets for steady Z2 and sharper intervals when the legs are good. Parc des Moulins and Jardin des Innocents keep easy miles simple. TOS Athlétisme is the big club name, and Troyes AC sits in the local mix too. The city hosts a 195 km race in mid-May. The Corrida de Noël de Troyes gives December a fast 5 km hit. Course des Copines, Cross de l'ARS - Sainte-Savine, and CROSS DU TOS keep the calendar honest.
Cycling: Troyes makes riding easy from the first roll-out because the city centre stays flat and the lanes open into a rolling mix. Locals point south-east to Saint-Julien-les-Villas for the lake bike path which lines the outlet canal for the Seine reservoir. The path passes by Parc des Moulins and then leads riders toward the Grands Lacs de Champagne. Randonnée Routes-chemins - Troyes gives 26 km, 36 km, and 68 km options when you want road-trail miles. Rotary tour du bouchon keeps things short with 3 km and 7 km loops. Raid Bulles parcours Gravel goes almost 375 km through plains, forests, valleys, and Côte des Bar vineyards. The climbs sit in the rolling ground, not in mountains.
Season: Mid-May is the clean anchor point because the Semi-Marathon de Troyes brings the city into race mode. Summer riding feels best when locals stretch base miles toward Lac d'Orient, which sits 17 km away, or toward Lac Amance, which sits 42 km from Port Dienville. The lake path gives pastures, lakes, forests, dykes, rural paths, beaches, and forest tracks, so Z2 never feels boxed in. Winter changes the rhythm more than the terrain. Runners keep a target with the Corrida de Noël de Troyes in December. Cyclists keep the legs ticking with short loops, gravel habits, and cyclocross energy when the long sunny rides fade.
