10 km de Sarge

The 10 km de Sargé is a road race held in mid-April in Sargé-lès-le-Mans, located in the Sarthe department of Pays de la Loire, France. Participants can choose between a single-loop 10 km race or a single-loop 5 km race. The 10 km race attracted over 300 participants, while the 5 km race saw more than 100 in the last edition. The course combines urban sections with natural areas surrounding Sargé-lès-le-Mans, offering more than just a flat run through streets. Organizers present it as a genuine test of resistance and endurance, distinct from a casual jog. However, the 5 km option accommodates both novice runners and seasoned competitors. The local motto, “C est le MoMans de Courir !”, references nearby Le Mans, suggesting that runners could explore the old town or the 24 Hours circuit after the race.

3h VTT et Gravel de la Chapelle-Saint-Aubin

In La Chapelle-Saint-Aubin, this race offers participants three hours to complete as many laps as possible on a circuit within Parc de Saint-Christophe. The event begins at 13:00 and concludes around 16:00. The format emphasizes continuous riding, effort management, and maximizing each lap. Riders may use mountain bikes, gravel bikes, or electric mountain bikes, and the race is classified under the VTT Enduro category. It welcomes both licensed and non-licensed participants, with options for solo riders and teams of two, three, or family trios. The circuit is a repeating park loop, making the race a test of pacing, lap consistency, and efficient transitions rather than a fixed distance. Teams have flexibility in organizing their relays, provided each changeover occurs within the designated relay zone and only one teammate is on the circuit at any given moment. A timing transponder, worn on the left ankle, is exchanged hand-to-hand during relays. Safety regulations mandate helmets and gloves, with bike checks at registration and potential spot checks. Specifics such as handlebar end caps and a plugged stem are also required. A unique rule adds intensity to the finish: the final lap's duration is doubled.

Duathlon de la Sarthe - Le Mans

The Duathlon de la Sarthe is a run-bike-run event held in Le Mans, within France's Sarthe department. Its next edition is scheduled for February, with the precise date yet to be confirmed. This format is a variation of triathlon, excluding the swim segment: participants first run, transition to cycling, and conclude with a final run. The event offers several duathlon distances for individuals. These include two categories for younger participants and two for adults. For children aged 6 to 9, the distances are a 0.25 km run, 1 km bike, and 0.25 km run. The 10 to 13 category covers 0.75 km, 5 km, and 0.75 km. The XS race involves a 2.5 km run, 10 km bike, and 1.25 km run. The S distance features a 5 km initial run, a 20 km bike, and a 2.5 km final run. The organizer provides a website, Instagram account, and Facebook page for further information.

About cycling & running in Le Mans

Le Mans Training Notes

Running: Locals run Le Mans like a compact urban training base, with the Sarthe River and the Huisne giving the city its rhythm. The city centre works well for steady Z2 and sharper intervals when you want short loops without overthinking it. The 3 km run picks up 111 m of elevation. Trail urbain du Mans gives the calendar a proper city anchor. 10 km le maine libre and the 5-10km intersport/jamg give road runners fast targets.

Cycling: Locals ride from the Cité Plantagenêt when they want a proper loop with a bit of Le Mans history under the wheels. The loop covers 0 km, gains 208 D+, and reaches Fillé-sur-Sarthe, Spay, Moncé woods, and the Tour-aux-Fées in Allonnes. Sarthe à vélo gives you base miles because Le Mans sits around the middle of the 400-odd kilometres of itineraries. The full loop is 185 km per lap. The track runs slightly downhill or flat, then a small uphill section bites after the home straight.

Season: Summer gives Le Mans its best training feel because the weather turns warm and occasionally hot. The Bugatti Circuit can get fierce, and one 24H Velo ride saw the track go above 35 degrees Celsius at 3pm. Locals shift intervals earlier, keep Z2 honest, and save the flood-lit laps for the good stories. August brings the 24 Hours Cycling SKODA on August 29 to 30, 2026. Winter stays mild and cloudy, so runners keep the city routes moving. Cyclists use the flatter track feel, gravel, and Sarthe à vélo days when the legs need steady work.
